(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson County Supervisors are expressing concern over a residential development being proposed for some land recently annexed into the city of Spirit Lake, just west of Indian Hills Golf Course.
A resident living in the Weather End area on the northwest side of West Lake Okoboji expressed concerns at this (Tues.) morning’s meeting over potential impacts on drainage and increased vehicular traffic on 215th Avenue in that area, along with future maintenance of the road and who would be responsible for it. Supervisor Kim Wermersen called for open communications between the county and city of Spirit Lake…
“Obviously property owners along that road are very concerned about drainage, about road maintenance, about all the things that you’re talking about, so I think we need to have those things better defined to us because there’s a lot property owners in the county along there that are very concerned.”
The supervisors voted unanimously to direct the County Attorney to write a letter to the city expressing the concerns.
A public hearing on a proposal to rezone the land is scheduled for 5:15 pm this (Tues.) evening in the council chambers at Spirit Lake City Hall.
