(Hartley) (KIWA)– The occupants of a Hartley home are homeless after a fire earlier this week.
Hartley Fire Chief Brad Meendering says they were called around 3:00 pm Wednesday to 20 North Fifth Avenue East in Hartley. Meendering says flames were shooting out of a window when they got there. He says they used an exterior attack to fight the fire and moved inside for overhaul.
Meendering says no injuries were reported.
The Sanborn Fire Department and Hartley Ambulance squad assisted on the scene.
Meendering says the cause of the fire appeared to be a malfunction in the charger or in the charging lithium batteries for a radio-controlled car.
The house was totaled in the blaze. Firefighters were on the scene a couple of hours.
