Voters In Sibley-Ocheyedan, Emmetsburg School Districts Approve Funding Measures

March 04, 2026

(Undated)– Voters in two area school districts Tuesday approved funding measures.

At Sibley-Ocheyedan, a renewal of a physical plant and equipment levy was approved with unofficial results showing 650 in favor and 357 against. It needed a simple majority for passage. The levy currently in place was passed by voters 10 years ago and was due to expire at the end of this year. The current rate of 67 cents will also be increased to a dollar as a result of Tuesday’s passage. Superintendent Stan DeZeeuw says the increase is needed to keep up with rising costs.

Also Tuesday, voters in the Emmetsburg Community School District approved a renewal of a revenue purpose statement, with 296 in favor and 126 opposed. The funding will go toward facility improvements.
