(Estherville)– Local law enforcement agencies are sounding the alarm over a new scam. Police in Estherville say criminals are using photos of homes for sale in the area and posting them for rent as their own.
Authorities say if you’re looking to rent or buy a home in the area that you should attempt to verify it is a legitimate advertisement. You can do that by contacting a local realtor or the actual homeowner.
They add you should definitely NOT send money to hold a property without first checking it out.
