Registration Opens For Dickinson County Nature Center Summer Camps

March 02, 2026

(Okoboji)– Summer is getting closer, and the Dickinson County Nature Center will open registration for Summer Camps soon. Registration opens today (March 2nd). Community Relations Coordinator Amy Heibult says they are offering a wide variety of programs…

“This year’s camp theme is From online to outdoors, so most of our camps will have a video game theme to them. But we have a really fun outdoor hands-on activities take to each camp, and instead of spending time on those screens, kids will be kind of increasing their mental and physical wellness throughout the summer. So we have some really fun plans for all of those.”

Heibult says registration closes two weeks prior to each camp and the deadline to get a camp t-shirt is May 11th

“Families should register their children for the grade that they’re going into this fall to save any confusion. We offer camp from four year old pre-K up to eighth grade, and we have some really fun partnership camps planned as well with Iowa Lakeside Lab and Conservation, Clay County Conservation Board, ISU and Kindermusik. So check those out. There are a few camps where you will have to register with other organizations, so make sure you check the details out.”

Heibult says June camps will have a video game theme with outdoor challenges and activities. She says the July camps will look at opposite elements within nature and explore the contrasts between them. More information is available here.
