LRH Named Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital For 8th Consecutive Year

February 27, 2026

(Spirit Lake)– Lakes Regional Healthcare has once again made the list of the Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals in the U.S. It’s the eighth consecutive year LRH has achieved the distinction by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. Hospital President and CEO Jason Harrington says it speaks volume for the entire staff and all the physicians at LRH…

“It takes everyone for us to have successful outcomes in quality and safety and patient satisfaction. Super proud of my team. I tell them often that the community is grateful for them and am super proud of the consistency in that and the number of years we have been successful in being a Top 100 Hospital.”

Harrington says they had to meet a list of criteria…

“They primarily focus on four domains: quality and safety, patient outcomes, patient experience or really patient satisfaction, and then overall cost of care. The Chartis Center really was created to focus on rural healthcare, both rural prospective payment hospitals and critical access hospitals. I think a lot of rural hospitals see them as the gold standard in terms of having intense knowledge about rural healthcare.”

Harrington also thanked the community for making the honor possible…

“We’re here and we exist, our mission is really to support the health and wellbeing of the Iowa Great Lakes Region and are greatly appreciative of the community and our patients for allowing us to be their healthcare provider of choice.”

Harrington adds that while they’re proud of the recognition, they go above and beyond because it’s best for patients and the community.
