(Sherburn, Mn.)– One of the last school districts in southern Minnesota to do so will soon be contracting out its transportation services. The Martin County West School Board voted last week to enter into a contract with Cedar Mountain Bus Service to transport students to and from school and activities.
Superintendent Cori Reynolds says the board considered several factors in making the decision…
“You know, they’re a larger scale transportation organization than we ever could be or will be and we’re really excited for them to be able to offer the important transportation services much more efficiently than we can do it ourselves. Fun fact, all the school districts that touch Martin County West contract with an organization for their transportation. I think it’s because people start to realize that it’s very hard to maintain a bus fleet and the drivers to drive those buses on your own when you need between six and 12 buses like we do.”
The new arrangement will go into effect at the start of the upcoming school year. Reynolds says families shouldn’t notice much for changes.
