(Alton)– One person is dead following a house fire in northwest Iowa.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says firefighters and other emergency crews responded to the scene in Alton Thursday evening and that one person who was in the home was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither the name of the victim or the address of the residence have been released. A news release says other details will be released as they become available.
The Alton and Orange City Fire Departments responded to the scene, along with ambulances from the two towns, the Orange City Police Department and Sioux County Emergency Management.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office.
