(Undated)– Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Region 2 received four of the six awards presented recently at the Northwest Extension Awards Ceremony. Region 2 Director Melissa Lutat says Sue Boettcher of Dickinson county received the Spirit of Cy Award…
“And that really revolves around enthusiasm for what we do. Obviously anybody that knows Sue Boettcher often times what people say is they don’t say well Sue at Iowa State Extension said this, they’ll say my friend, Sue. And that’s exactly what the Spirit of Cy Award is, it’s not just a job, it’s a joy. And that’s what Sue Boettcher brings to the table for us and we’re super thankful for all that she does for us along with all our staff in Dickinson county.”
In addition, Lutat says the Clay County Extension Council was honored with the Council Distinguished Service Award…
“And that’s primarily focused around their efforts to raise donations of over $600,000 so that we could build a facility where we could not only house the staff but we could do programming and that the community could come in and do programming as well, and so it’s become kind of a hub in Spencer and we’ve enjoyed the ability to be able to share what our council has done with Clay county and others throughout the state have come here and had different programming as well there.”
Lutat says two staff members from the ISU Extension and Outreach office in Palo Alto county were honored, including Julie Naig…
“She actually just retired and she received the Pride of Extension Award, and her actions really had to do with her contributions over the last 30 years. The number of people that she’s touched within those 30 years as County Youth Coordinator has been amazing.”
Also honored from Palo Alto county was Devona Perkins who received the Exceptional Volunteer Service Award…
“And she worked side by side with Julie Naig in Palo Alto county for the last 25 years, both of them doing programming, which when you’re working with youth, many hands make light work. Devona has made it so that it’s enjoyable for all and that Julie was able to deliver the programs and on top of that the kids were able to learn from both of them. We’re super thankful for everybody within Region 2. It takes all of us to be successful and I, it’s not just a Clay, Emmet, Dickinson and Palo Alto county staff and extension councils, it’s our community.”
