(Spirit Lake)– The Tim Tebow Foundation started an event called Night to Shine back in 2015. According to the Night to Shine website, this is a complimentary event for people with special needs hosted by local churches around the world. Ashley Heebner, a member of the Planning Committee at Crosswinds Church explains the event…
“It’s an awesome event that the Tim Tebow Foundation puts on. It’s actually the twelfth year. It’s always the Friday before Valentine’s Day, and it’s really a big prom for the special needs community. It’s centered in God’s love, honoring and valuing people with special needs.”
Night to Shine is a world wide event and in 2025 included 822 churches and over 189,000 volunteers. Heebner says they need more volunteers to help with Night to Shine at Crosswinds Church…
“Takes a really literally a community to be able to put on an event like this. We have lots of different areas that we can use. Help in. Each of our guests gets a buddy, and that buddy is going to kind of make their night extra special. But we also need help in different areas. And so we do a meal hair, makeup, shoeshine, limo rides, red carpet, paparazzi dance and karaoke, and then even more for these special guests.”

“If you are a check person, you can write a check out. It does need to be written out to Crosswinds Church, but then in the memo, make sure to write Night to Shine and then you can either mail that to Crosswinds Church in Spirit Lake or drop it off, or on that Facebook page you’ll also find a link to for the donation page if that is more user friendly for you.”
