(Estherville)– A settlement agreement between Red Rock Wind Project, LLC and Emmet County that was approved Tuesday (Jan. 13th) means the company can proceed with plans for a wind farm in that county.
With one abstention, supervisors voted 4-0 to approve the agreement based on the recommendation of an attorney representing the county on the matter. Matt Brick said it was his feeling it would be in the best interest for Emmet county and taxpayers to approve the settlement to avoid costs that would be associated with any future litigation.
Red Rock Wind Project LLC sued Emmet county after its Board of Adjustment voted down a conditional use permit for the project in 2024.
