(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson County Supervisors are apparently going to re-visit a wage increase made for themselves during last week’s meeting. The board originally wasn’t scheduled to meet any more this year, but they’ve scheduled a special meeting for tomorrow (Tues.) with that issue being the only item on the agenda, along with approval of the minutes from last week’s meeting.
The three percent increase for supervisors for the upcoming fiscal year was included in a motion with a raise of that same level for other Dickinson county employees, both elected and non-elected. That motion passed on a 3-2 vote with supervisors Levi Markwardt and Steve Dullard voting no. They advocated for no raise for the supervisors, saying they should lead by example. Fellow supervisor Kim Wermersen, meanwhile, advocated FOR the raise for the supervisors saying it’s important to be able to attract quality candidates to run for the position.
Tuesday’s meeting begins at 9:00 am in the Community Room at the Courthouse in Spirit Lake.
