(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson County Attorney Steve Goodlow is stepping down. Goodlow announced at this (Tues.) morning’s Board of Supervisors meeting he’ll be resigning effective January 1st, 2026…
“This resignation is based on a decision I have made and a promise I wish to keep to my wife Leslie. That promise is that I would not run in another contested election. I’ve been made aware that more than one attorney wishes to throw their hat into the ring for this position. So I have made this decision not to run. I could finish my term that expires on December 31st of ’26, but an opportunity has presented itself that I cannot pass on.”
Goodlow thanked the Board of Supervisors and county staff and department heads for their support during his tenure as County Attorney.
Goodlow went on to mention one highlight in particular during his time as Dickinson County Attorney…
“One of my proudest moments in this job has been my work with the Dickinson County Treatment Court. I thank Justice Sandy for asking me to join this project. Treatment Court is both frustrating and rewarding at the same time. It has been a great pleasure to work with Judge Meyer and the panel to try to make a difference in these individuals lives. The panel is made up of volunteers who give dozens of hours each month for our cause and there’s a special place for each one of them. Treatment Court does work.”
Goodlow has served as Dickinson County Attorney since January, 2023 when he was appointed to fill a vacancy in the position.
