(Spirit Lake) You can help Exit Realty Midwest stock the toy shelves at Upper Des Moines Opportunity this holiday season by dropping off a new unwrapped toy at the Exit Realty Midwest office in Spirit Lake. Nancy Vierkant, Realtor with Exit Realty Midwest, says it's not just for the holiday season...
“We team up with Upper Des Moines right here in Dickinson County and we have it as a drop off point so that we can collect new, unwrapped toys. They use them for the holiday season, but not only that they have actually what’s called a birthday room. And so we supply the toys that families get to come and choose when their child has a birthday throughout the year. So we help supply the toys and items for that birthday room all year round as well. So it is a very important drive and cause for this season, but especially to stock it throughout the entire year as well.”
Vierkant says they would love to see items for the older kids...
“Think about things that are maybe for those older kids and teens, like in that age group of eight to eighteen. It seems they get a lot of things for those younger toddler ages, but we’re really trying to focus on things like games and puzzles, bedding and room decor for kids to put things in their rooms and make that special place for them. So those are just some ideas for that age group as well that we’re really trying to collect.”
Vierkant explains where to drop off the toys...
“We are taking donations at the Exit Realty Midwest office right here at 1306 18th Street Suite C. So right across from Jennings is kind of your icon there. So we’re in that little strip mall and our office hours are typically open from about 8:30 until 4:30. We do have an entryway that is always open, so we do collect toys there as well and bring them inside.”
You can drop off donations at the Exit Realty Midwest office through Monday December 15th. They will take the toys to Upper Des Moines Opportunity on Tuesday so they can be distributed.
