3rd Annual HLP Children’s Christmas Bazaar Is This Saturday, Dec. 6th

December 05, 2025

(Lake Park)– The Lake Park Garden Club was the host of an event for families where kids could come and purchase reasonably priced gifts for families and friends but that event dissolved a few years ago due to covid. The event was so popular that the group Heroes for Happiness, made up of Harris Lake Park staff decided to bring it back. The event is now called the Children’s Christmas Bazaar and HL-P Elementary School Principal Becca Matthiessen says why it was important to bring it back…

“You would hear stories of Christmas morning and the gifts that people got to open up. And so that kind of fizzled out around Covid I believe it was and the garden club is no longer. And we kind of go the urge as the heroes of happiness, kind of brought it back and its just been once again, very well taken by our community and all the students in our community.”

HL-P Superintendent Mike Thompson explains what the day entails…

“Basically we invite all of our families in on one Saturday, usually the first Saturday of December. It’s an opportunity for the kids to come in and do some shopping in our gym. For many, many, many months previously we invite our community and any honestly anyone that wants to donate gently used or new items and the kids can come in, pick out whatever items catch their eye and we try to keep things reasonably priced, a dollar or two or three. And the idea being they can walk in with just maybe a twenty dollar bill and walk out with gifts for the entire family and then we’ll even gift wrap for them as well before they leave.”

This is the 3rd Annual Children’s Christmas Bazaar and it will be held Saturday (Dec. 6th) from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the H-LP Elementary School. The event is open to all H-LP students in grades K through 12.
