Dickinson County Nature Center Has A New Naturalist

November 24, 2025

(Okoboji)– There’s a new face at these days at the Dickinson County Nature Center. Ashley Tieden has joined the staff as the new naturalist. She explains what her new duties consist of…

“Which mainly involves giving educational programs to kids and adults around the county and in some parts out of the county. We do a lot of programming for pre-K and Kindergarten, helping them learn their letters with the help of some animal friends along with some programming for like home-school kids. We do our family nature nights every month and some programming for assisted living care facilities and nursing homes and stuff like that.”

Tieden hopes to bring fresh enthusiasm and a new perspective to all the programs at the nature center. Tieden talks about what she is looking forward to in her new role…

“Meeting a lot of new people in this community. I just moved up here from Des Moines. I don’t have family up here, so its all new to me. So I’m looking forward to getting involved in the community and, you know, being a good resource for environmental education for a lot of people.”

You will be able to meet Tieden at upcoming environmental education programs. You can find out more information on upcoming events by going to dickinsoncountyconservationboard.com and by also following the nature center on their social media platforms.
