Several Area Banks Team Up For Fraud Presentation

November 17, 2025

(Arnolds Park) Bank Midwest, Central Bank, Farmers Savings Bank and Northwest Bank have all teamed up for a Fraud Awareness and Prevention Seminar to educate people on what things you should be aware of when it comes to fraud. Nicole Evans, President of Northwest Bank, says they want the public to be informed…

“It’s such a huge issue in our industry that we just felt it was important to show the community, you know, it doesn’t matter where you bank. We want to make sure that you’re protected. We want to educate you. It doesn’t matter who you bank with, fraud doesn’t discriminate. We see a lot of extra fraud and an uptick in fraud around the holidays. It’s good timing to try and learn as much as you can. We just want everyone to learn how to protect themselves. We see it every single day at every bank and we just realized this is a bigger problem than any individual so we need to come together to try and help our community out.”

Evans talks about what they have planned for the seminar…

“We’re gonna have a rep from the Iowa Bankers Association to kind of talk through those specific trends that we’re seeing. Then we are going to have a panel of representatives from each of the banks, along with local police and they’re going to be able to field questions from the audience. So bring your questions. If it doesn’t make the panel, we’re going to have the banks hanging around after the presentation. You can ask any one of the bank representatives as well. It’s a total community event so even if you don’t bank with one of those banks, we want you to come, bring a friend. We got light appetizers. Hopefully it’s enjoyable and that you learn something and we just hope to see a lot of folks there.”

The seminar will take place at the Waterfront Grille In Arnolds Park on Tuesday November 18th. Doors will open at 4:30 and the event will start at 5:00 and should last approximately an hour. Registration is NOT required and this event is open to the public.
