(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake Fire Department Sunday evening responded to a tractor on fire. Fire Chief Pat Daly says it was in a field in the area of 270th Avenue and Highways 9 & 71 east of Spirit Lake…
“About 20 after 6 when they called us. Got on the scene the tractor was fully involved. They had been out in the field spreading fertilizer.”
Daly says they may never know what caused the tractor to catch on fire…
“The tractor is totally gone. No injuries or anything like that? No, no. They got out of the tractor right away and called us and we got out there.”
Daly says there were no concerns over the possibility of the fire spreading as the field had just recently been plowed.
Firefighters were on the scene about an hour.
