(Storm Lake)– A Natural gas leak forced some evacuations Tuesday at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.
It happened a little before noon when an underground contractor accidentally struck a large gas line on campus. Perimeters were established and a number of facilities on the campus were evacuated, with classes being canceled the rest of the day.
Utility crews arrived and shut down the line, as ambulance crews stood by as a precaution. The Storm Lake Fire Department monitored gas levels in the affected buildings and the necessary repairs were made without incident.
The scene was cleared several hours later. No injuries were reported.
