(Emmetsburg)– Authorities say snow and ice were contributing factors in a single vehicle crash Saturday evening near Emmetsburg that sent three people to the hospital.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says it happened a little after 6:30 pm. Deputies say Stella Sassman was eastbound on Highway 18 on the west edge of Emmetsburg and lost control of a 2003 Ford pickup while crossing an ice-covered bridge. The vehicle went into the ditch and rolled several times .
Sassman and two passengers were taken to the Emmetsburg hospital. The vehicle was totaled in the crash.
