(Rock Rapids)– No one was hurt when a medical helicopter made an emergency landing Sunday evening just north of Rock Rapids in Lyon county.
Authorities say a Life Flight helicopter, based out of Fort Dodge, was headed to Sioux Falls when it apparently collided with a bird, damaging the windshield and a rotor. The pilot was able to safely land the chopper on some grass. The helicopter was enroute to Sioux Falls from Spirit Lake. An earlier report had indicated it had taken off from Spencer but we have since learned otherwise.
The incident took place around 6:19 pm. Other details weren’t immediately available.
