(Des Moines)– A prestigious honor for a northwest Iowa school. The George-Little Rock Elementary School is one of four schools in the state awarded blue ribbon status by the Iowa Department of Education. The announcement was made Wednesday during a ceremony at the Iowa State Capitol.
The designation is based on testing scores and student proficiency and growth.
The blue ribbon designation previously was done through the U.S. Department of Education, but transitioned this year to the state level.
