(Arnolds Park)– The Okoboji Foundation’s Youth in Philanthropy program is off and running for its 16th year. 34 students from the Harris-Lake Park, Okoboji and Spirit Lake High Schools are participating this year. They held their first meeting earlier this month.
Youth in Philanthropy was created in 2010 to engage and educate students about the importance of giving, leadership, community needs and collaboration. They actively participate in fundraising, grantmaking and community engagement. Last year Youth in Philanthropy raised a record-breaking $112,000, bringing the program’s cumulative total to more than $649,000 granted to 34 local nonprofit organizations since the program was founded.
The current fund drive runs through March 31st , 2026. Grant awards will be announced in May, 2026.
