Jackson Awarded State Funds For Flood Mitigation

October 22, 2025

(St. Paul, Mn.)– The city of Jackson will be getting a share of state funding for flood mitigation efforts.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says the funding is through its Flood Hazard Mitigation Grant Assistance Program. The cost-share grants assist local governments with capital improvement projects to mitigate flood risks and impacts. The funding awarded to the city of Jackson will be used to acquire some flood-prone property.

A press release doesn’t mention the amount of funding the city will be getting. The Minnesota Legislature allocated $9 million for the program for 2025. Eight different projects, including the one in Jackson, were awarded funds.

The competitive grant program was created by the Minnesota Legislature in 1987.
