October 15, 2025

(Spencer)– The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has released details into a traffic stop earlier this month that resulted in multiple charges against two people.

Authorities say a deputy pulled over a vehicle around 1:30 pm October 5th for speeding and discovered some marijuana and drug paraphernalia had been thrown out of it. The deputy also reported witnessing the initial driver, a 16-year-old juvenile from Cherokee, and a passenger, 20-year-old Natasha Ford of Aurelia, switch places while driving down the road. A subsequent search turned up additional marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Ford was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, minor in possession of tobacco, permitting an unauthorized minor to drive, littering and no seatbelt. Ford was later released after posting a $1,000 bond.

The 16-year-old was cited into juvenile court for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, and several other traffic-related offenses. He was released to the custody of his mother.
