(Orleans)– A new ordinance mandating house numbers may be going on the books in Orleans. The City Council Monday evening scheduled a public hearing on the proposal for their next regular meeting November 10th. City officials say some homes currently do not have address numbers on them, making it difficult for firefighters and first responders to locate them.
The council also Monday discussed, but decided more details need to be worked out, on possible ordinances regarding demolition and moving of buildings, both in and out of the city. City officials say they would like to see notification requirements put into place.
There was also discussion about possibly updating an ordinance dealing with ATV’s, snowmobiles and golf carts. City officials say they’ve had requests for additional regulations for golf carts. Council members, however, said they feel the current ordinance is sufficient, saying it’s more of an enforcement issue.
