Bridge Project In Cherokee Now Complete

October 15, 2025

(Cherokee)– A project to replace a bridge on Highway 3 over the Little Sioux River in Cherokee is now complete. The Iowa Department of Transportation and city officials will hold a ribbon cutting commemorating the occasion October 21st.

The project originally wasn’t scheduled until 2026 but was pushed up by last year’s historic flood. It included replacement of the bridge itself along with the construction of an overflow structure and roadway improvements.

D.O.T officials say the new structures will ensure continuity and connectivity throughout northwest Iowa during future flood events.
