(Milford) At Monday night’s council meeting, officials approved a $179,900 bid from Rick Stanton of Sibley — doing business as Sibley Sheet Metal Inc., for the old City Hall Building. The historic building, located at the corner of 10th Street and North Avenue, once housed the police department and even served as a U.S. Fish and Wildlife outpost. Most recently, it saw action as RAGBRAI headquarters when the city hosted the massive cross-state bike ride back in July. Two other bids came in — one for $120,000 and another just over $93,000 — but Stanton’s offer topped them all. The city had considered everything from turning the building into a museum to demolishing it entirely — a move that would’ve cost taxpayers around $250,000. Stanton’s future plans for the site are still unclear, but he’ll take over ownership “as is.”
