Dickinson County Endowment Fund Celebrating 20 Years

September 24, 2025

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors Tuesday heard an update from the Dickinson County Endowment Fund. Ann Ditsworth serves as advisor for the group which is celebrating its 20th anniversary…

“To this point we have granted out about $1.9 million, a little over $1.9 million, to projects throughout Dickinson county, over 450 projects to be exact. Collaborating with our schools. We’ve given 104 grant projects to schools. This year we had 14 new grants that we gave funding to.”

She says one of their primary goals is to try to divy up the funding all throughout Dickinson county…

“That has always been our focus each year is to try to spread the dollars as much as we can. So that’s why we work with all the school districts and many of the cities and the non-profits in our communities throughout the county are often served more than one specific municipality.”

Ditsworth goes on to explain how the Dickinson County Endowment Fund got its start…

“In 2005 the legislation was passed to provide counties that do not have a gaming facility, with these dollars if we jumped through some of the hoops to get things set up. We chose to and this is the outcome.”

In addition to gaming revenue, Ditsworth says the fund also receives donations from private individuals.

A nine-member board with representatives from throughout Dickinson county oversees the Dickinson County Endowment Fund.
