First Phase of Dickinson and Clay County Trail System Almost Complete

September 22, 2025

(Milford)– Work on the first phase of a project connecting the Dickinson County Trail system with Clay county is winding down. Erin Reed, Dickinson County Trails Director, has an update…

“That trail is getting close to wrapping up, that first mile and a half that we got done. Probably now looking at next year to do the last 3 miles. We’ve had a couple design changes with the middle segment so that held us back a little bit so the goal is to get the last 3 miles done next year.”

She adds they’re in the process of applying for federal grants for the next phase…

“We’re still going after more grants, especially for that last mile. We’re hopeful that we applied for State Rec trails grant in July but we have not heard on that so we’re going to go after federal rec trail funds since we already have some federal funding on it and we’re already in the process of going through that paperwork and getting the reviews done for that project so that bodes well for federal funding to get some more of that.”

The Clay county portion of the trail from just north of Spencer to the Clay county line north of Fostoria is complete.
