Time To Renew Registrations for Off Road Vehicles & Snowmobiles

September 17, 2025

(Spirit Lake)– Owners of all-terrain-vehicles, off-road utility vehicles, off-road motorcycles and snowmobiles are being reminded that now’s the time to renew their registrations. Dickinson County Recorder Ann Ditsworth recommends getting that done now, rather than later…

“These need to be done before the end of the year in order to avoid the five dollar penalty after 12/31. It’s a simple process. We just need to know your current vehicles and we can pull it up by your name and just do the renewal process very quickly here, so happy to take them as they come. If you get in here earlier then you won’t be standing in any lines.”

Registration renewals can also be done online at the Iowa DNR’s licensing site at Go Outdoors-dot-com. However, owners of new machines, or who have not yet registered their vehicles, need to do so in person at the County Recorder’s Office in the county where they reside.

Revenue from registration fees for off-highway vehicles go to support grant programs to develop and maintain off-highway vehicle parks and snowmobile trails in Iowa.
