(Spencer)– Those attending this year’s Clay County Fair may notice a few buildings are no longer standing. Fair General Manager Jason Brockshus says they were aging and were not being utilized much to begin with…
“We removed the old horse barn north of the race track which hasn’t been used in a long time. We didn’t even use it that much for productive storage and we have some plans for the race season so we can utilize that space better. The old Sillies Bathroom, the stucco one south of Julie’s Diner inside Gate C, had the mirror on the wall, that is gone but is going to be replaced by a soft tub vendor, fair sponsor, Prairie Soak and Sauna, and then we brought in a food vendor as well, Mammy’s Churros and Ice Cream. So a new food, new vendors, and a new experience for fairgoers as they spread out around the grounds. And then another bathroom was removed by the cattle barns that nobody really knew was there, it hasn’t been in really usable shape. We just tidied up and created more space for those livestock kids to get ready for shows in there between barn one and two.”
