(Algona)– A Spencer man will go on trial after pleading not guilty in a vehicular homicide case in Kossuth county. 18-year-old Kai-Remington Pearce was charged with homicide by vehicle-reckless driving.
It stems from a collision on July 28th of last year at the intersection of Highway 18 and 160th Avenue in Kossuth county. An accident report says Pearce was southbound when he failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a motorcycle driven by 42-year-old Adam Allen of Pocahontas, who died at the scene.
Court documents say Pearce had allegedly been using his cell phone prior to the collision, texting and receiving multiple messages.
He’s scheduled to go on trial December 16th in Kossuth county.
