“We’re not in Jackson very often but we are owned by Sanford Medical Center and Avera Health. The two organizations actually have been coming together for 50 years and providing blood to Sanford Jackson Medical Center for over 20 years. It’s a great way for you guys to, people to know that blood is available for friends, neighbors, family members when the incidental and the accidental occur. Accidents happen quite frequently during the summertime and I know this summer has definitely seen several severe accidents over the summer months. What we want to do is just be prepared for those situations so that if something were to occur and we would need a blood transfusion for a patient, we’ve got the blood available.”
Versteeg says you can sign up at cbblifeblood.org. You can also call them at 605-331-3222. Versteeg says giving blood takes only about a half hour of your time, and that you could easily help save someone’s life in the process.
