(Undated)– A new detour goes into effect next week for Highway 9 between Highway 86 and the Osceola county line. Beginning Wednesday, August 20th, weather permitting, the route will utilize Iowa Highway 86, Dickinson County Road A-22, Dickinson County Road M-34, Dickinson and Osceola County Road A-34 or 220th Street, and Osceola County Road M-18, or White Avenue.
Officials with the Iowa Department of Transportation say the change in the detour route will allow crews from Dickinson county to complete a bridge deck overlay project on Dickinson County Road A-34.
Access will still be available to businesses and residences along Highway 9, however motorists are advised to travel toward the nearest side road and to exit the construction area as Highway 9 between Highway 86 and the Osceola county line remains closed to through traffic. The project isn’t scheduled for completion until mid to late October.
