(Spencer)– The organizer of the Faster Horses Flood Relief Concert that was held in June in Spencer has announced how the proceeds from the event will be allocated for Clay county flood victims. Eli Alger of the Faster Horses Band says the cash proceeds will assist victims applying for housing through Habitat For Humanity with the in-kind contributions going to a flood relief organization in Clay county…
“If you’re a flood victim and you’re applying for a Habitat home, you’re eligible. And then all of the in-kind donations, so all the electrical equipment, the countertops, the plumbing, that’s going to go to the Long Term Recovery Group, which is awesome. They were formed specifically for the flood. All they do is find people who are in need of X Y Z.”
Alger adds the Faster Horses Flood Relief fund continues to accept donations…
“The way we structured this deal is that it’s air tight and that anything that we raise forever and ever amen, can only go towards this cause. And let’s be honest, unless we get some sort of billionaire to come in and stake the whole deal, we’re probably never going to raise enough to really take care of all the need there is. So our idea is that as long as there is money coming into the account, as long as there’s people going hey, you guys still need supplies or this, that and the other, we’re going to leave it open.”
