Lake Park City Council Approves Land Purchase For Eventual New Fire Station

July 15, 2025

(Lake Park)– Eventual plans for a new fire station in Lake Park took a step forward at Monday evening’s city council meeting. Mayor Matt Carstensen…

“We did approve the purchase of 3.5 acres, I believe, on the east side of M-27 last night. That will give them access to M-27 and a clear vision of both ways when it comes to traffic and those kinds of things. It’s a nice location because it allows for future expansion and at the same time, like I say, it gives access to the main road in and out of Lake Park.”

The land is located directly across from the Presbyterian Church. Meanwhile, Carstensen says other details such as the size of the building and other things, are still being determined…

“It was decided that there will be a couple of people from the council and some people from the Fire Department sitting down and have a face-to-face meeting about what we can possibly plan, what type of facilities we can look at to move forward.”

An engineering firm will also be involved in putting together a proposal for the design process.

A new facility housing the ambulance has also been mentioned in the past as possibly being included in the project.
