Two NW Iowa School Districts Awarded Grants For Therapeutic Classrooms

July 02, 2025

(Undated)– Two northwest Iowa School Districts are among those receiving grants for therapeutic classrooms for students with emotional or behavioral needs. Spencer and Cherokee will each receive a share of $2 million in funds being awarded to eight districts.

The Therapeutic Classroom Incentive Grant was established by state legislation signed into law in 2020. It’s part of an initiative to improve mental health supports for children, youth and families.

This is the fifth round of grants awarded through the program. The grants will be distributed in the fall for district implementation in the 2025-’26 school year.
