Administrative Changes Go Into Effect At Harris-Lake Park

July 01, 2025

(Lake Park)– Some changes in administration are taking effect today (Tuesday) for the Harris-Lake Park Community School District. Mike Thompson is now the district’s Superintendent, succeeding Gary Richardson who had been serving in that capacity previously…

“I’ve just finished my third year here at HLP as the elementary principal and then replacing myself will be Becca Mathiesen, she has been our elementary instructional coach the past few years as well and she’s going to do a fantastic job stepping into that position. Replacing Greg Hiemstra who has been middle school high school principal for the past, I believe seven years, will be Ashley Delaney and Ashley has been middle school high school instructional coach in that building over there, so as Becca is doing at the elementary she’ll be stepping into the middle school high school role and what that will allow Greg to do is focus primarily on curriculum instruction and assessment, what we used to call a curriculum director I guess you would say. And then replacing Ashley Delaney as our activities director is Jared Rahe. Many people know Jared, he’s coached a lot of different sports over the years, he’s one of our elementary special ed teachers as well. Jared is no stranger to the A-D world, he used to do that many years ago here at HLP so this is an opportunity for him to come back in that position.”

Thompson explains what it was that led up to the changes…

Thompson says he’s also excited about the construction of the new elementary school, scheduled for completion next year, along with renovations at the middle school-high school.
