(Sioux Center)– An Ocheyedan woman has been arrested on burglary charges after an incident in Sioux Center. According to a criminal complaint, 33-year-old Kristen Nuzem of Ocheyedan is accused of taking prescription medication that did not belong to her. She was arrested on Friday.
In his statement, a Sioux county deputy says Nuzum lives at a residential treatment facility in Sioux Center. On April 23, 2025, Nuzum was allegedly caught going into another resident’s apartment. The deputy’s statement says Nuzum took four of the victim’s Vyvanse pills, which the victim is prescribed. On May 6th, while the victim was in the Woodbury County jail serving a mittimus, a pastor and Nuzum were cleaning the victim’s room. The deputy says he believes that while cleaning her room, Nuzum took 27 Vyvanse pills belonging to the victim. The deputy says that when the pastor confronted Nuzum about this, she admitted to taking them and using them. Nuzum also admitted to the pastor that she went into the victim’s apartment and took the four missing Vyvanse from the April incident.
Nuzum was charged with third-degree burglary, a class D felony. She faces a preliminary hearing on June 6th, and an arraignment on June 9th. At last report, Nuzum remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City in lieu of a $2000 bond.
