(Milford)– The Iowa Department of Transportation has denied a request by the Milford RAGBRAI Committee to shut down Highway 71 from the morning of July 20th through the early morning of July 21st.
In making the request, the Milford RAGBRAI Committee sited safety concerns for RAGBRAI participants in crossing from one side of the road to the other. In denying the request, D.O.T officials sited the large volume of traffic the closure would impact.
Milford RAGBRAI organizers say they’ll have to make due with the D.O.T’s decision and will make some alternate plans.
