Hit & Run Investigation Leads To Arrest Of A Spencer Man On Multiple Drug Charges

(Spencer)– An investigation over the weekend into a hit-and-run in Ruthven led to the arrest of a Spencer man on multiple drug charges.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy located a vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the incident and pulled it over around 12:30 am Saturday in the 2600 mile of Highway 18. The driver, 41-year-old Justin Cook of Spencer, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated…1st offense.

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up cocaine, open containers, drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Cook was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance…cocaine…3rd offense; possession of a controlled substance….marijuana, open container and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cook was also wanted on warrants for drug charges out of Palo Alto county. He was booked into the Clay County Jail.
