(Orange City)– A Louisiana man wanted on a nationwide arrest warrant was taken into custody Saturday in northwest Iowa. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 52-year-old Kyle Backhaus was arrested while operating some carnival rides Saturday during the Tulip Festival in Orange City.
Authorities say they received a tip that Backhaus, who had been evading law enforcement for four years, would be operating the rides. Sheriff’s deputies wearing plain clothes coordinated efforts to locate, identify and take Backhaus into custody.
He’s being held in the Sioux County jail on the warrants.
