Martin County West To Hold Public Hearing On Operating Levy Renewal

May 16, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Sherburn, Mn.)– A southern Minnesota school district is considering whether or not to renew a 10-year operating levy. Cori Reynolds, Superintendent at Martin County West, says the school board will hold a public hearing Monday evening. She says the procedure for renewing the levies has changed somewhat in Minnesota…

“The difference this time around for Martin County West is the law changed. School boards are now able to renew a voter approved operating levy one time for the same terms. So that will be the question before the school board on Monday evening at their meeting is do they renew this operating levy for up to another 10 years?”

Reynolds says the levy provides additional funding per student above and beyond what’s received from the state.

Monday’s public hearing will be held at 5:00 pm in the Board Room at the Elementary School in Sherburn.
