May 16, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Wahpeton)– The Iowa Lakeside Laboratory will kick off their Tuesday Night lecture series on May 20th. Community members can attend the free lectures to learn more about a wide range of topics. The lecture series is held at  Mahan (Man) Hall at Lakeside Lab. Dr. Mary Skopec will be the first speaker and shares what she will talk about…

“I”ll give a presentation Tuesday night about some or our origin story and all the different cool things we’re doing and we’ll allow for questions and just allow people to get to know us a little bit better.”

Not only do they have a lecture series on Tuesday nights, Dr. Skopec also talks about a fun event that is held every Wednesday throughout the summer…

“We have what we call Wild Wednesdays and these are family friendly events. You know bring the kids bring the grand kids out. We have a number of different fun hands on things for the community to engage in everything from talking about fire to talking about mammals and stars and again those are at 5:30 pm on Wednesdays and again just come out to Mahan Hall for those fun Wild Wednesday events.”

The Tuesday night lecture series starts at 7:00 and is always followed by a social hour which gives the attendees the chance to meet the speaker and continue the conversation. Make sure you tune in every Monday at 3:45 on KUOO to hear the Lakeside Science Minute which will feature that week’s Lakeside Lab Lecture series speaker.
