(Primghar)– A house was destroyed in a fire early Monday in Primghar.
Fire Chief Cory Crouch says they were paged around 3:45 am to 180 First Street Northwest and found the deck and porch engulfed in flames. He stated that they initially fought the fire from the outside using two hose lines, then used a fan to ventilate the building as they moved inside to extinguish the remaining fire.
Crouch reported that no one was injured.
The Sanborn Fire Department also helped at the scene.
According to the chief, a charcoal grill on the deck was used earlier in the evening, around dusk. He indicated that the fire seems to have started near the grill, leading them to believe it might be the cause.
Chief Crouch reports that the house is probably totaled, as there was fire all through the main floor and extensive smoke damage.
He says firefighters were on the scene about two and a half hours.
Crouch says the occupants have made other living arrangements and the American Red Cross is in contact with them.
