(Spirit Lake)– ATLAS of the Lakes Area is holding a fundraising event this coming Monday evening, May 12th. Executive Director Tonya Kuranda says the organization serves people in the community who are facing hardships…
“Atlas is a non-profit ministering the local area that helps those that are finding their selves in some type of trial or situation that a lot of us might take for granted. That could be a financial hardship, it could be homelessness, it could be domestic abuse and the list goes on. So we offer them a place where they can come, and essentially its a church in a building in a way. That’s how I like to explain it. A lot of people feel comfortable walking in the office versus walking into a church with a whole bunch of people you know surrounding you on a Sunday. They walk in and we listen to them and we get to hear their stories and I think the power of listening is so life changing and the power of encouragement and the power of just believing in someone, maybe they haven’t had that their whole life.”
