(Lakefield, Mn.)– Kilen Woods State Park near Lakefield got a sprucing up over the weekend. Eight volunteers and a park employee spent the day Saturday picking up litter and downed branches on the trails and campgrounds. They also raked leaves at the tent sites and amphitheater; pounded rebar back in place on the parking spurs that had been dislodged by frost heaves; swept out the office and loaded up the campground’s old recycling unit for removal.
A hot dog lunch was served to the volunteers courtesy Federated Rural Electric, which puts on the clean up every spring. According to a press release, over the last 20 years 430 Federated Green Touch volunteers have donated 1,380 hours.
