(St. James, Mn.)– A Windom man was arrested early this (Thurs.) morning following a pursuit through two counties in southwest Minnesota.
The Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office says it started a little before 2:00 am when a deputy tried pull over a pickup without license plates. The driver refused to stop, resulting in a pursuit that went through Watonwan county and into Cottonwood county where the suspect drove into a field, got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. Multiple agencies responded to the location. A perimeter was established and a K-9 unit was deployed, along with a fixed-wing plane from the Minnesota State Patrol. The suspect, a 48-year-old man who’s name hasn’t been released, was found lying in a field and was taken into custody.
An investigation revealed the vehicle had apparently been stolen from Jackson county.
The suspect is being held in the Watonwan County jail in St. James pending formal charges. Authorities say the incident remains under investigation.
