(Undated)– The latest Iowa Crop Progress and Condition Report shows corn planted reached 18 percent last week, 3 days ahead of last year and 5 days ahead of the 5-year average. 11 percent of the expected soybean crop had been planted, 3 days ahead of last year and 1 week ahead of the 5-year average.
The report says topsoil moisture was rated 6 percent very short, 22 percent short, 69 percent adequate and 3 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture was rated 7 percent very short, 30 percent short, 61 percent adequate and 2 percent surplus.
It goes on to say that on the average, 5.5 days were suitable for fieldwork last week.
